# Money & Banking

> Cash, bank, debit cards, Payslip and moving money around.

## Cash vs bank

Your **cash** is an item in your inventory — it can be stolen, dropped or found. Your **bank balance** is safe. Keep walking-around money low.

## Chase Bank

Four branches across the city (blips on). Talk to the teller or use `/bank`:

* Open an account (first visit)
* Deposit / withdraw
* Transfers to any other account number
* Order a **debit card** — needed to pay by card in stores and the illegal market

**ATMs** withdraw cash from your account. **Business Banking** (inside Chase) handles company accounts for registered businesses.

## Payslip

Your job pays a **Payslip** into your bank on a timer while you're on duty. You'll see a notification each time.

## Dirty money

Crime pays in **dirty money**, not cash. Dirty money can't be deposited or spent in normal stores. Two ways to clean it:

* **Money orders** — buy a money order with dirty cash from a fraud contact, then cash it at a Chase teller. Three meet-up spots exist; ask around.
* **Laundering jobs** on the [burner tablet](/guides/illegal-overview).

<Warning>
  Carrying dirty money is evidence. If the NYPD searches you, expect a charge.
