# Vehicles

> Buying, garages, keys, fuel, mechanics and the impound.

## Buying

Dealerships sell new vehicles; used ones change hands between players. Every vehicle you own is tied to your character.

## Garages

The public garage is **Downtown Manhattan**. Park inside the garage zone to store; open the garage to spawn it out. Job garages (NYPD fleet) work the same way for their members.

## Keys

`F5` opens your keyring:

* Lock / unlock
* Give a spare key to another player
* Hotwire a car you don't own (takes time, makes noise, alerts nearby police)

## Fuel

Every gas station has working pumps. Look at the pump, `E`, fill up, pay. Jerry cans exist for emergencies. Fuel is shown on the HUD.

## Mechanics

The mechanic shop does repairs, tuning (engine, brakes, suspension, turbo, nitrous), cosmetics and mileage checks. Mechanics are a player job — call one, or a mechanic tablet lists who is on duty.

## Impound

Vehicles left on the street can be impounded by the NYPD (**Harlem Impound**). Retrieve them there for a fee.

## Driving feel

Handling is tuned toward GTA IV — heavier, more body roll, real braking distances. You can **hang out of the window** (`H`) and **shoot from any seat**.

<Tip>
  Cars are not disposable. A wrecked car has to be towed and repaired — it doesn't respawn.
