# 10. Not Valuing Life (NVL)

> Treat your character as you would yourself.

All players must value their character's life: treat your character as you would treat yourself. Be mindful of your character's life at all times.

If you are being held at gunpoint, you are to do whatever they instruct you to. If someone has a hostage during a situation, you must value the hostage's life and want their safety.

You are not in direct danger when:

* You are in a vehicle and the engine isn’t stalled.
* You have a firearm drawn and are facing the other person before they attack.
* The attacker’s view is obstructed by an object or they turn their back on you.
* You are not outnumbered by two or more people.
