Character creation
You get multiple character slots. Each character has its own name, DOB, appearance, skills and money. Pick a name that fits a serious city — staff will ask you to change joke names.Appearance
Full face and body sculpting, hair, tattoos and clothing. You can change clothes at any of the 30+ clothing stores on the map (blips on) and revisit the barber and tattoo shops later.Skills & attributes
Your character has skills that grow with use (driving, shooting, stamina, strength…). New characters start average. Skills persist per character.What you start with
- A phone
- An ID
- A small amount of cash — enough for food, a bus fare and a bank account
First things to do

Open a bank account
Walk into any Chase Bank branch and talk to the teller. This gives you a debit card and lets you receive your Payslip. See Money.

Pick a job
Press
F6 to open the job menu. Everyone starts as Civilian; you can hold up to 4 jobs. See Jobs.3
Learn the bus
Cars cost money. The bus is $4 and covers every borough. See Getting Around.

Eat and drink
Hunger and thirst are real. 7-Eleven style stores sell water, sodas and food.
